National Chicken Day - 16th November-2024 Organised by the Association of Assam Vets in Poultry Industry (AAVPI) at the Veterinary College Playground, Khanapara, the National Chicken Day 2024 programme focused on promoting the nutritional benefits of chicken and eggs and creating awareness among the public about their role in a healthy and balanced diet.
The programme featured expert talks by veterinary and poultry professionals, supported by the distribution of informative leaflets and display of awareness flex highlighting the scientifically established benefits of consuming chicken and eggs.
As part of the awareness campaign, a bike rally was organised from Khanapara to Paltan Bazar, Guwahati, carrying the message of safe and nutritious poultry consumption. The rally aimed to counter widespread myths and misinformation about broiler meat and eggs, particularly misleading claims circulating on social media that are not supported by scientific evidence.
The event witnessed participation of around 500 people. To further encourage positive consumer perception and promote healthy poultry consumption, boiled eggs and fried chicken were served as part of the packet lunch provided to participants.

Paying tribute to the Legend late Zubeen Garg on his untimely death
National Chicken Day - 16th November-2025 AAVPI organised National Chicken Day 2025 at the Auditorium of the College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, with the objective of promoting awareness about the nutritional and health benefits of chicken meat and eggs.
The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the newly formed Assam Veterinary and Fishery University as the Chief Guest, along with distinguished guest Dr. Bibekananda Saikia, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara.
Around 200 participants, including veterinary students and poultry stakeholders, attended the programme and actively participated in the awareness activities.
The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the newly formed Assam Veterinary and Fishery University as the Chief Guest, along with distinguished guest Dr. Bibekananda Saikia, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara.
As part of the broader public awareness campaign, AAVPI volunteers also conducted a poster campaign across various meat retail outlets in Guwahati and other parts of Assam. Posters were displayed on rickshaws and other movable vehicles to reach the wider community. The campaign focused on educating consumers about the scientifically established nutritional benefits of broiler chicken meat and eggs and addressing common rumours, misconceptions and myths surrounding their consumption. The initiative aimed to promote informed food choices and build greater public confidence in poultry products.
